This is a very nice all original WWII X Type USMC canteen set that was used during the Second World War. This canteen was manufactured by The Aluminum Cooking Utensil Company in 1942 and is marked “TACU Co. 1942”. It has a few dents and dings with the cork seal missing in the cap (very easily replaced).
The cup is a Enterprise Aluminum Company manufactured in Massilon, Ohio. It marked “E.A. Co 1944” on the back of the cup. It has some dirt and scratches that have not been cleaned up in any way.
The cover is what really makes this set one that will be hard to upgrade. It is an all original unmarked X Type cross over cover used only by the USMC in WWII. This cover shows signs of use but has good strong stitching with buttons that work as they should. There is some light corrosion on the belt hanger that would clean up easily.
Overall this is a great example of a WWII X Type USMC canteen set that would be an excellent addition to any WWII collection.
