This is a beautiful all original and all correct Springfield Armory Model 1873 Trapdoor rifle chambered in 45-70 Govt. This rifle has a good bore that is bright and shiny throughout with strong rifling. Mechanically everything works great. The hammer spring is still very strong and lockup is tight. The stock is in good shape with a beautiful 1878 dated cartouche and circle P proofmark. It looks to have been cleaned at one time maybe with steel wool, but all markings are still legible. The metal finish is in good shape with all markings clearly legible. The bluing is thinning, but is overall still in decent shape. This rifle comes complete with the original cleaning rod.
Trapdoor Rifles with as good a bore as this do not come through very often. Don't miss your chance at a true time capsule of a rifle!
